Talks are underway in Kabul between the TTP and the Pakistani military leadership, mediated by the Afghan Taliban. According to the statement issued so far, the TTP has declared a ceasefire while there are rumors circulating that some demands from the other side have been met.
This is the first formal official effort by the Afghan Taliban to benefit Pakistan, which is valued on both sides of the border, but at the same time, we must understand that the Afghan Taliban also have two views or divisions. This has been demonstrated in the recent past in the form of incidents like demolition of fences on the border.
Therefore, in this situation, we are constantly ignoring a class. We have to try to influence these elements by involving them in the negotiation process, who are the elders or scholars of this school of thought, Thoughts that the TTP have because a fit soldier or a normal fighting so-called mujahid doesn’t know many things. He is likely to be misled. He is brainwashed and shown the canals of milk and honey in heaven. Or the painful death is so glamorous that he thinks to be welcomed on red carpet as he commits suicide.
Therefore, the same elements or scholars who they consider as their elders can play a role in rooting out this thinking. I would like to point out one thing here that in the past also the state of Pakistan got help from some scholars in such matters but at the time those people were from a class that doesn’t have any respect in their community (Taliban). This is in anyway harmful to just present such people in front of our people.
As Pakistanis, we have to make an effective and lively statement at this time in which we have to raise an effective and lively voice against those who have killed our own innocent Muslim brothers and sisters without any reason by being ignorant or misled. That this is not jihad, sabotage or terrorism.
And this has to be said openly and bluntly in every open forum instead of behind closed doors or conferences. Pakistan cannot tolerate sabotage. It has to be stopped. Now it has to be stopped by force or through dialogue. It depends on the capabilities of Pakistani military leadership.
